  2. What is the Silver Award Project? The Silver Award is the highest award a Cadette Girl Scout can receive. It is a project of the girl’s choice that benefits and educates the community.

  3. Our Project for Lake Kyle Park • Our project, by planting shrubs and trees all throughout the park, is to help Lake Kyle Park : • preserve the nature • provide shelter for animals • shade for visitors • add additional scenery • instill pride for all residents of Kyle

  4. Benefits for the park • help the environment • establish the park as a nature preserve • reduce soil erosion • increase oxygen levels • provide more green space • lower average temperature • add food and habitats for animals

  5. Types of trees and shrubs being planted. Trees: • Shrubs: • Honeysuckle • Red tip bush • Crepe myrtle • Live oak • Oak • Sycamore • Ash • Red Oak • Burr Oak

  6. The education behind it all The Silver Award project includes leaving behind an educational benefit. We chose to make a plaque that is placed on a post, and it explains the type of tree or shrub it is in front of and states several facts about the tree or shrub.

  7. Requests for donations We are asking businesses like McCoy's, Lowes, and local nurseries for trees and shrubs. We are asking other local businesses for monetary donations that we will use to buy additional trees and shrubs at wholesale cost.

  8. Time Line June - Send out requests for donations from several businesses. June 15 - Collect the donations, and purchase additional trees. July – Plant the trees and shrubs in Lake Kyle Park.

  9. QUESTIONS If you have any questions, we will answer them now.
