  1. Our planet earth How does it move and why do we have seasons?

  2. Why do we have day and night? • As the earth circle the sun it also spins in space. • It spins on its axis which is an imaginary line running through the earth N to S. • Once it completes a full spin after 24 hours it is called a rotation. • Daytime is when the tilt is toward the sun and night is away from the sun.

  3. Time Zones • Time zone go across the globe and each is divided into standard time zones • Look at map on p 29, complete the Map Master activity.

  4. Seasons and Latitude • As the earth travels around the sun, the tilt of its axis causes our seasons. The tilt shifts north to south.

  5. Revolution of the Earth • Look at the diagram on p. 31 (ticket out) separate sheet • How do the earth’s tilt and orbit cause the seasons? Use details from the text to support your answer • Look at diagram on p. 32 Explain why it is hotter near the equator and cooler up at the north pole. Use details from the text to support your answer.

  6. Step four • Write a topic sentences using one of the three author points you chose and begin supporting with the details

  7. Step five • Repeat step four with the other two main points

  8. Step 6 • Re-read and revise your four paragraphs • Introduction and the 3 main body

  9. Step 7 • Re- write essay in final format and restate the question for your conclusion

  10. Step 8 • Congratulations you just wrote your first multi-paragraph essay • HOORAY!!!!! 
