Information on the Project • The objective of the project is to develop a system of education of adult educators • containing 3 one semester modules • and to realize 3 pilot courses for 320 educators • The system implies psychological problems of inclusion of socio-culturally or health-disadvantaged adults into the educational process • Extent of each course is 40 hours of in-class teaching and 100 hours of individual studies with support of electronic study materials in the Moodle environment. Courses are terminated by final thesis.

  3. Specific outputs Development of three one-semester, independent, however contextually mutually linked educational modules: • Introduction to issues of adult education • Distance learning • Study counseling in lifelong education. The aim of this presentation is to describe the modules including a short analysis of pilot courses.

  4. Introduction to issues of adult education Content of the course: • Introduction to the issue • Pedagogically-psychological issues of adult education • Current trends in adult education • Forms of adult education • Roles of educators in adult education • Evaluation in adult education

Graduation • Assessment for continuous studies: • successful development of three written assignments in course of self-studies • evaluation of activities in the e-learning environment • Final thesis in the extent of 8 – 10 pages. The thesis has character of research empirical probe or of the project.

Education Age categories Age 20-30 Elementary education 7 Age 31-40 4 5 Secondary Age 41-50 education Age 51-60 Higher 5 education 15 Age 61-70 9 Other education Age above 70 Pilot Course • 26 persons interested applied for the course, 23 studied successfully and 22 graduated • Participants of the first tutorial obtained a motivation questionnaire, to which 22 students responded: • average age of students was 47 years • 15 students had university degree, other full secondary technical • they studied prevailingly due to professional reasons

Pilot Course • Pilot course was launched on 1 February 2007 and concluded on 30 May 2007. • Final theses were presented in June 2007. • Participants attended three in-class tutorials: • One-day initial tutorial, the aim of which was to familiarize with pedagogues and one another • Two-day tutorial focused prevailingly on discussion, students consulted problematic parts of studies and obtained topics for their final theses • Presentation of final thesis

  8. Questionnaire on the course of the 2nd tutorial • there prevailed satisfaction with content organization and course of the tutorial • the tutorial had motivation character • the tutorial helped to clarify studied problems

Questionnaire on evaluation of contextual and methodological quality of the course 22 students responded to the questionnaire : • students often studied topics, which were interesting for them and almost always topics necessary for their profession and practice • they often reflected on their ideas and on their classmates‘ ideas • they considered discussion of problems insufficient – higher number of hours of in-class teaching was required, necessary for better familiarization with classmates • personality and pedagogical methods of teachers were evaluated as very good In general the course has been evaluated as sufficiently comprehensible.

  14. Distance Learning Content of the course: • Specifics of distance learning • Study materials in distance studies • Organizational ensuring of distance studies • Multimedia in e-learning: multimedia technologies – history, graphics, sound, animation and video, multimedia on the internet.

  15. Graduation • Assessment for continuous studies • Final thesis in the extent of 10 – 15 pages. • Subjectof final thesis: work a part of subject matter as electronic study material in Moodle.

  16. Pilot Course • Pilot course was launched on 13 October and concluded on 6 April 2008 by presentation of final theses. • 14 participants started studies,number of active participants was 9, 5 already graduated and 2 participants postponed their presentations to winter semester. • Average age was 36, 9 participants were higher educational institution graduates, 4 secondary school graduates

Pilot Course In-class teaching has been divided in 4 tutorials: • One-day initial tutorial, the aim of which was to familiarize with pedagogues and one another • Two day tutorial focused prevailingly on legislation, on issues of writing of distance courses and initial lecture in Multimedia • Two day practical workshop focused on work with the Moodle environment • Presentation of final thesis

Course evaluation Participants obtained • questionnaire on evaluation of contextual and methodological quality of the course • questionnaire on quality of study materials • final questionnaire on course of the course The course has been evaluated very good as for content, utility, teacher's support and comprehensibility. Interactivity and cooperation within students has been evaluated under average – participants preferred individual consultations with tutors to collective discussions. Students also proposed to divide the course into two semesters and focus on directed preparation of electronic study materials.

Study counseling in lifelong education The course has been divided in two subjects: Study counseling • History, methods and forms of counseling • Counseling care for personal development • Study counseling for adults • Selected administration aspects of study counseling • European policy in counseling

Psychological conditions of education of socio-culturally or health-disadvantaged adults • Problems of education of chronically sick people • Education of people with decreased level of mental powers • Problems of education of health disadvantaged people • Problems of education of socially and socio-culturally disadvantaged people: • people with lower level of education • people from different socio-cultural environment • members of Romany minorities

  23. Graduation • Final thesis in the extent of 10 – 15 pages. The thesis has character of project on system of adult study counseling in proper educational institution.

  24. Pilot Course • Pilot course was launched on 14 February 2007 and concluded on 14 June 2008 by presentation of final theses. • 22 participants applied and 17 of them started studies, number of active students was 14, 5 already graduated and 9 postponed their presentations to winter semester.
