  6. Facts about Britain • The population of Britain is 58 million. • The official language is English. • The term British refers to people, places and things from England, Scotland and Wales. • The capital city, London, is in the southeast and is situated at both sides of the River Thames.

  21. Breakfast A traditional breakfast consists of eggs, bacon, sausages, fried bread , mushrooms and baked beans. A typical English breakfast is a bowl of cereals, a slice of toast, orange juice and A cup of coffee.

  22. Afternoon Tea This is a small meal, not a drink. It consists of tea or coffee served with scones, sandwiches or pastries.

  29. Pets • More than 50 per cent of British families own a pet. They keep cats, dogs, budgerigars and goldfish. • Some |British like keeping small animals, snakes , spiders or even reptiles.
