  2. Stability • Standing fast in the Lord (Phil. 4:1) • An ever present challenge {from the world} • Do not love the world (1 Jn. 2:15-17) • Do not conform to the world (Rom. 12:1-2) • Keep unspotted from the world (James 1:27) • Do not become friends with the world (James 4:4)

  3. Other destabilizing forces • False doctrines (Eph. 4:14) • Subtle devices (2 Cor. 2:11) • Disappointment leading to discouragement (Gal. 6:9) • Stability is produced through united brethren (Phil. 1:27)

  4. Rejoicing • In the Lord (Phil. 4:4) • Optimistic, full of hope, full of joy (Rom. 15:13) • Full of joy (1 Jn. 1:4)

  5. Always Praying • For everything (Phil. 4:6-7) • Continue in prayer (Rom. 12:12; 1 Thess. 5:17)

  6. Controlled Thought • This CAN be done (Phil 4:8) • Our thoughts shape our actions (Prov. 4:23; 23:7) • Concentrate on good things – “think on these things.”

  7. Contentment • Paul had learned this (Phil. 4:11-12) • Live a Christ-centered life (Phil. 1:21) • Live a Christ-controlled life (Gal. 2:20)

  8. Produce Fruit • “To your account” (Phil. 4:16-17) • God is glorified by a fruitful life (Jn. 15:1-8)
