  2. Introduction Our Product Focus for the next two weeks is Red Hat. Red Hat is a maker and distributor of enterprise Linux applications and programming platforms. Founded in 1993, Red Hat has grown to become the industry leading enterprise level Linux distribution. Red Hat’s products and solutions are used by over 90% of the Fortune 500. Red Hat’s customers are also spread across various industries like Telecom, Healthcare, Financial, Retail, and Manufacturing. Though our Red Hat solutions focus on operating system administration and management, Red Hat also has an extensive line of products spanning many areas of IT such as Applications Servers, Data Services, Messaging, Storage, Cloud Management, and Virtualization.

  3. Introduction Red Hat = Enterprise Linux What is Linux? Linux is an open-source operating system based on the UNIX kernel. Linux runs on more hardware platforms than any other operating system and can also be found in embedded systems such as cell-phones and tablets (Android), routers, automation controls, and televisions. Many distributions of Linux are free to download and install such as Debian, SUSE, Ubuntu, and GNOME. What is Open-Source? Open-source software is computer software who’s source code is made available and licensed to anyone to freely study, change, or distribute. Open-source licenses grant licensees the right to copy, modify, and redistribute the source code.

Topics such as certification, job potential, and training will be represented. • Look for a new post each morning for the next two weeks to push our Red Hat focus. Target Audience • Our target audience is any IT Professional looking for fundamental or advanced Red Hat administration training.
