  4. Course requirements • Two multiple-choice and short-answer midterms (2 X 15% = 30%). No make ups. • Final examination: 150 multiple-choice items on content from the entire term (40%). • Discussion group participation (10%) and writing assignments (4 X 5% = 20%)

  5. Discussion Group Activities • Weekly activities to promote active learning • AA students should bring computer • On 4 of 7 weeks, you will have written two page response to assignment question • Participation includes attendance, contributions in group, and on-line discussions

  6. Computer Support • ACME version of course outlines for 1023A2 or B2 as well as 1020L • Links to lectures within 1023 • Links to web-based activities in 1020L • Non AA versions of these activities • Discussion forums within 1020L • Misc: Writing papers, e-mail, Text CD

  7. How to get a Good Grade • Read and work ahead • Attend classes and discussion groups • Study when you can pay attention to the material • Use your study guide: practice questions • Take notes: What do my outlines mean? Look at someone else’s notes when confused

  8. Extra Credit Points (up to 4) • You can get a maximum of 4 extra credit points by participating in research in the Psychology Department. • If you object to participating in research, you may complete an “extra credit assignment”.

  9. Other comments • Don’t feel lost in this big course!! • Discussion groups are designed to be informal supportive learning environments. • Come visit me or your t.a. during our office hours. We are here to help!!
