General Bursary Information • Information about bursaries and/or scholarships is available on the Financial Aid website at: www.algonquincollege.com/financialaid • Student bursary funds are provided by the Algonquin College Foundation Office • In 2006/2007 the college’s external bursary fund totaled $206, 650; in 2008/2009 the college’s external bursary fund totaled $305, 146

Entrance Bursary Application 2009-2010 • The Algonquin College Entrance Bursary application is sent out in a student’s college admission package called The Next Step • Algonquin College is offering Entrance Bursaries to students who are enrolling in the first term of their full-time post-secondary program • Students in a Diploma program will be eligible for a $500 bursary and students enrolled in a Degree program will be eligible for a bursary of $1,000 • Students enrolled in Certificate programs are NOT eligible for the Entrance Bursary • Entrance Bursaries are based on demonstrated financial need

Entrance Bursary Application 2009-2010 Deadlines to Apply: • 2009 Fall term: September 18, 2009 • 2010 Winter term: January 16, 2010Students will be notified of the Entrance Bursary decision by mail within two weeks of their applications being received at the College • As the number of Entrance Bursaries is limited, it is strongly recommended that students submit their completed Entrance Bursary applications promptly to the Financial Aid Office • Note: Incomplete Bursary applications will be rejected

Student Assistance Bursary • The Financial Aid Office also administers a student need bursary program on behalf of Algonquin College called the Student Assistance Bursary • Our budget for 2008-2009 is $2,129,000 • Our Office has three major Student Assistance Bursary intakes a year • Fall in-take in October • Winter in-take in February • Spring in-take in June • Applications are available on-line to all full-time students through the Algonquin College Student Information System (ACSIS)

Ontario First Generation Bursary • The government of Ontario, Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities, Opportunities Strategy Branch has allocated funds for a bursary that is geared towards First Generation Students • The bursary opportunity will provide direct financial support to students with a demonstrated financial need who are the first in their family to attend a post-secondary institution (College/University) • Valued at $1000-2500 per student • Deadline : August 21, 2009

Ontario First Generation Bursary – cont’d • Eligibility Criteria: • You must be a student whose parents did not attend any post-secondary studies (full or part-time) • You must be considered an Ontario resident (have lived in Ontario a minimum of 12 months prior to your first day of study at Algonquin College) • You must be enrolled full time in the 2009 -2010 academic year • You must be pursuing postsecondary education or training, which can include an apprenticeship program • You must have a financial need that exceeds the value of the bursary ($1,000)

Ontario First Generation – cont’d • You must write a one page, single spaced, typed essay about being the first generation in your family to participate in postsecondary studies and the challenges you have encountered along the way • You must complete the financial need eligibility requirement on the reverse side of the application • Application available at the Financial Aid Office in room C225 or cardind@alonquincollege.com

Sens Foundation Scholarship Program • Awarded by the Honours & Awards Committee (OCSB) • Maximum of 5 valued at $1000 each • Student has applied to a full-time post secondary program at Algonquin College for Fall 2008. • Among the criteria, student must include a summary: • Strong academic achievements; • Demonstrated involvement in the community; • Demonstrated participation in sport activities and strong teamwork skills; • Demonstrated passion for their Algonquin College field of study.

Scholarships once at Algonquin College • Ontario International Education Opportunity Scholarship • Open to Canadian students only , enrolled as a full-time post-secondary student • Study overseas for a minimum of two months (including USA and Mexico) • 26 placements by March 31, 2009 • Dual Credit Bursary • Successful completion of a dual credit course at Algonquin College and attending a full-time program (Fall 09) • Algonquin College Student Bursary Program • Listed in the College Handbook • External and program specific
