    • INTRODUCTION

    • BTPS was conceived in 1965 to meet the growing electricity demand of Northern Region.

    • The site construction activities started in 1968.

    • The plant became operational with the commissioning of its first unit on 26th July 1973, 2nd unit in ;74 , 3rd unit in ’75 , 4th unit in ’78 & 5th unit in ’81.

  • For the past 29 years & in its 30th year of operation, BTPS has been moving from strength to strength.

  • Achieved new heights in Generation, Availability and substantial reduction in inputs; thereby demonstrating overall efficiency in plant performance, towards its end-objective of providing power to the Capital.

  • In spite of the old and aging units, PLF of BTPS has remained higher than the National Average for the last 16 consecutive years.

  • Amongst Top 20 Power Stations of India current FY 8th position.

  • Achieved all our MOU Targets with Excellent Rating.

    • British safety award for 1988, 1994 and 1999.

    • One employee bagged the Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar in 1994 from Ministry of Labour. Six employees have been given the same award for 1998.

    • 6 BTPS employees were awarded under Delhi Shramik Sujhao Yojna Puraskar’97 &

    • Another 8 employees have been awarded under Delhi Shramik Sujhao Yojna Puraskar’98 at Vigyan Bhawan on 20th Aug’02by Chief Minister of Delhi.

    • 112 QCs are operating in the station.

    • At National Convention of Quality Circles (NCQC-2000)

      • “Chetna” QC of BTPS bagged first award in category “Best of Manufacturing Support Stream”.

      • Our other QC namely “Chakra” won “Best of The Session Award” in the same contest.

    • Quality Circle ‘Chakra’ won Distinguished Category Award at the 15th National Convention held at Hyderabad (NCQC-2001).

    • AT CCQC-2002 (DURGAPUR CHAPTER) FROM 12th TO 13th JULY 2002, ABHIGYAN QC WON 1st PRIZE IN SERVICE GROUP.

    • AT INTERNATIONAL QUALITY CIRCLE CONVENTION -2002 (LUCKNOW ) WHICH WAS HELD ON 17-20 DEC 2002, THREE QC TEAMS - CHETNA , CHAKRA & TARANG PARTICIPATED & CHETNA WON DISTINGUISHED CATEGORY AWARD.
