  2. Who wrote it? • Written by the Spanish author : • Miguel de Cervantes • Published : 1605 • Sequel : 1615 • Most important fictional book in the Spanish Golden Age.

  3. Who is in it? • Main characters : Alonso Quixano • -a retired gentleman -lives in La Mancha with his neice and housekeepers. Aldonza Lorenzo – known as ´Dulcinea del Toboso´, his lady love. Sancho Panza – invited to be his squire and accompany him on his advenures.

  4. What is it about? • Introduction : • Alonso Quixano is obsessed with being a knight. • Believes all the stories he has read about chivilary to be true. • He tries to copy them but finds it impossible. People believe that he has lost his mind and is crazy!

  5. First book • Two quests First book : a knight in search of adventure on a horse called Rocinante. Falls in love with Aldonza Lorenzo but she is unaware.

  6. Second Quest • Second quest: • Don Quixote plots an escape. • Ask Sancho Panza to be his squire and promises to give him an island. • He attacks the windmills during his adventures believing them to be giants. • People believe him to be mad and try to burn his books. • He meets lots of characters on the way.

  7. Second book • Published ten years after the first novel in 1615. • More serious and philosophical. • More deception. • Lots of jokes played on poor Don Quixote EVEN his truested friend Sancho laughing at him!

  8. Conclusion • Being the butt off everyones jokes makes Don Quixote sad. • He regains his sanity and renounces chivalry. • Sancho tries to bring back his faith in chivalry BUT he dies sad and broken.
