  1. Mariam’s First Ramadan By: Dhikshitha

  2. My name is Mariam Al Thani and I am a 10 year old girl in Qatar.

  3. Summer had just began and I am having a lot of fun with my friend and cousins.

  4. A few weeks later someone spotted the helal and the month of Ramadan started.

  5. This was my very first time fasting so I was really excited.

  6. My very first day fasting began, my mother woke me up before dawn to eat.

  7. After eating a delicious meal, I crawled back into bed.

  8. Later in the day I woke up and went downstairs to watch T.V

  9. It was funny how I couldn’t get food out of my mind, even though I was not hungry.

  10. After our swam finished we all sat together as a family and had Tamir and Laban followed by many other dishes.

  11. The next morning after the Maghreb prayer we all sat down to eat iftar, when I saw a worker with a blue uniform pass by my house.

  12. That’s when I thought about all the less fortunate, hardworking people who could not afford such good food I was having during Ramadan. I wanted to do something…

  13. Then I got an idea so after suhoor I went to talk to my dad about my thoughts. At first he looked puzzled but I could tell by his looks that he was proud of me. So he put up iftar tents outside a few big mosques so all the less fortunate could eat.

  14. I visited the tents weekly to see that everyone left with a smile on their face.

  15. THANK YOU
