That is why the entire town resonates with a vibration amplifying only peace, tranquility, and a calm state of mind. You will find your faith here, your peace here, and surely return to your homeland with a Buddha-like smile on your face. Let's take you on a journey through some religious places in and around Dharamshala. Inner peace we're ready for you. Bhagsunag Temple and Bhagsu Waterfal Legend says that King Bhagsu had angered Shiva by stealing water from the Nag Lake here. To repent and seek forgiveness from Lord Shiva, King Bhagsu built the Bhagsunag Temple. The temple is a few kilometers away from McLeodganj and is highly revered by Hindus. The water present in the two sacred pools on the temple compounds is said to have healing properties. The best time to visit this temple is in September. Travelers after seeking blessings from the Bhagsunag Temple can enjoy the beauty of the Bhagsu waterfall. The Bhagsu waterfall is known as the ultimate tourist spot in Dharamshala. The water stream before falling passes through the Bhagsunath Temple. People can grab a cup of coffee from the local cafes surrounding the falls and watch the majestic waterfall from a height of 30 feet. Feeling enlightened yet? This is just the beginning. PC: Trip Spell Namgyal Monastery also is known as the 'Dalai Lama Temple Complex The Namgyal Monastery is home to the Dalai Lama and is the largest Tibetan temple outside Tibet. The beauty of the place lies in the fact that even non-believers are taken in awe of the whole ambiance and vibrations of the place. The monastery houses over 200 monks who help preserve the monastery's culture, traditions, and artistic pursuits. Visitors can see Buddhist monks engaged in their Buddhist prayers, mandala making, playing of ritual instruments, and dances. Everyone visiting this place is bound to leave with a piece of peace. Kalachakra Temple An architectural marvel in the form of a Buddhist temple. It is on the same complex as the Namgyal Monastery. The temple has a strong concept of Buddhism behind it. 'Kala' means Time and 'Chakra' means Wheel, this temple is a personification of the concept of 'The Wheel of Time'. Monks dedicate themselves to perform rituals to enhance the spirituality of the environment and further the cause of peace and harmony amongst all living beings. The splendor and the serenity are what make this temple a great place to visit in Dharamshala. Aghanjar Mahadev Temple Another great temple with a great legend attached to it. It is believed that during the time of the Mahabharata, Arjuna (one of the Pandavas) met Lord Shiva at this very spot as he was on his way to Mount Kailash. Lord Shiva blessed Arjuna with a boon, which eventually made him victorious against the Kauravas. This temple houses a Shivalinga where devotees can offer their prayers and seek blessings from the deity. The temple is surrounded by flora and fauna all around it, making it a beautiful place to calm the mind and enjoy the fruits of nature. Jwaladevi Temple A temple where no idols are worshipped, but an eternal flame that has been burning through the ages. The mysterious fact is that the flame has been burning through time immemorial and the reason behind the flame could not be found. According to Hindu mythology, the tongue of Sati (Lord Shiva's wife) after her body was disassembled by Lord Vishnu fell at the exact spot the Jwala Devi Temple is built on. Another legend has it that the great Mughal emperor, Akbar, tried to extinguish the fire, but all his best efforts were in vain. The spiritual vibrations and powers of this place go beyond the human mind. That is why the Jwaladevi Temple is known as a 'Shakti Peeth'. Seek the blessings from the great flame. Masroor Temple An uncut diamond, a Himalayan pyramid, India's undiscovered wonder. Masroor is a cluster of 15 rock temples, that were carved out of a single boulder and built around a central shrine. The central shrine houses the idols of Lord Ram, Lord Lakshman, and Goddess Sita. The temple complex is built on the Masroor Lake. Architecture wise the temple shares a strong resemblance with the Ajanta and Ellora caves in Maharashtra. Whether you're a student, a nomad, a seeker, or a person of faith, there's a path to peace waiting for each one of you. PC: World Tour Guide I'm looking for..
