Here is a List of Must Visit Places in Barot : Image Credit : Banbanjara Kareri Lake: A shallow, freshwater lake on high altitude, located in the village of Kareri is the main trekking space. Glacier water and Mountain streams can be found all round the year. You get to see absolute crystal clear water running. Just follow the Nyund stream from the village that will lead you to the lake. Adventurous activities like Camping and Fishing make the experience around the river memorable. One of the oldest hydel power projects, the Shanan Power House or UHL stage-I, started by British Rule in India is on the Uhl. Waters of the Uhl are tapped at Barot in a reservoir using a barrage. This water is then diverted to the Shanan Power House, Jogindernagar using a tunnel and penstocks, where it runs turbines for electricity generation. Barot Temple: Temple of Dev Pashakot is an old temple of the local deity of rain. This place takes you to the road of spirituality and is one of the finest places to visit in Barot. Located on the banks of Uhl river banks on a foothill , this temple is also a downward trekking destination if you want to see the holy side of Barot. Keep Barot on the List if you want to experience the calm away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Kotla Fort: One of the most renowned tourist locations on the state highway of Himachal Pradesh between Nurpur and Shahpur, Kotla Fort is located in close proximity to Rakkh Resort in Himachal Pradesh. The fort is specially visited by History buffs. There is also a temple near the fort which is a rewarding visit if you like the old temple. The temple has been carved in a complex way but with style and sophistication. Located in the middle of the hills, it offers a beautiful view of the terrains of the north. Surrounded by Dhauladhar range, the view is absolutely mesmerizing in the winters when everything is snow covered. Chuhar Valley: The view in this valley is what you can call paradise. Shivratri celebrations are famous in this valley and are celebrated with full zeal. Celebrated as the International Mandi Shivratri festival, the festival welcomes people from all around the world. The valley is also home to black bear and Monal as it is surrounded by thick forests. Nargu Wildlife Sanctuary: On the eastern side of Uhl river, is the Nargu Wildlife Sanctuary which is a one stop destination for all your wildlife travels.
