  1. A Boon for Distantly Settled Brothers and Sisters A Boon for Distantly Settled Brothers and Sisters It has been over a decade now that Peter and I have been pen friends. He is a writer based in New York, USA. From the very first day we came across each other, we bonded instantly and share a strong brother sister love. He told me that I resemble her sister a lot and he is not in touch with her own sister now due to some family problems. He was born and brought up in Chicago and now due to his job, he has moved to New York. I came across Peter at a website based on finding penpals around the world. I always had the urge of travelling to new places, meeting new people and getting to know their tradition and culture. Being a travel buff I have visited many places in India right from my childhood. My father was a marine engineer and whenever he used to come for a few months home to spend some leisure time with his family, we used to go for vacation.I have visited almost all the amazing places in India from the picturesque, “paradise on earth”, Kashmir, to the pristine beaches of Goa and the backwaters of Kerala. The varied culture, tradition, historical significance of the cities of India amazes me.

  2. This love for travel has compelled me to take up travel journalism. I am basically a Bengali girl, born and brought up in Kolkata and now due to my job, I am settled in New Delhi. I am the only child of my parents and all along I have craved for a sibling and when I came across Peter I was thrilled to find a brother in him.He is very fond of the Indian culture, tradition and history and over the past ten years we have made plans several times to meet up but due to some reason or the other never managed to. He is like my elder brother, philosopher and guide and has advised me on many aspects related to my career and life. He is fascinated with all the Indian festivals including Diwali, Holi, Rakshabandhan , Bhai Dooj and so on. For the past many years I have sent rakhi online ( www.rakhi.in/ ) to my penpal turned brother staying in New York. Whenever I send rakhi to USA ( http://www.rakhi.in/rakhi-to-usa/ ), I feel how emotional he becomes. Coming from a broken family and experiencing a bitter childhood, where he only saw his parents quarrel, he was always in search of sister love, which he found in me. Both he and his sister were sent to separate foster homes where they were raised and now he has no connection with his sister at all. I am indeed lucky to have a mature and caring brother like him. Rakhi.in has helped me tremendously in delivering rakhi and rakhi combo gifts to Peter to strengthen our brother sister bond. Very soon I hope to meet him in person and tie the rakhi around his wrist. He is especially fond of the sandalwood rakhi and gulab jamun. Every year whenever I send rakhi to USA, I make sure I buy a different type of rakhi online from the amazing collection available at rakhi.in, ranging from designer, zardosi, pearl, diamond to kundan, navratna, silver, and sandalwood and a whole lot more.
