  2. Introducing Oxford • Oxford’s remarkable global appeal continues to grow. More than a hundred and thirty nationalities are represented among a student population of over eighteen thousand. Almost a quarter comes from outside the United Kingdom.

  3. The Structure of the University • Oxford is an independent and self-governing institution, consisting of the central University and the Colleges.

  4. Oxford Church • Enjoy a sightseeing bus tour to Oxford, Stratford, and Warwick Castle from London, England - at SUPER SAVER rates when you book and take your tour from July through October, 2008! Visit one of the grandest colleges of all, Christ Church. Many of the scenes in the Harry Potter feature films were shot in various locations of the college and the Great Hall was replicated in the film studios to create Hogwart's Hall.

  5. Oxford People • With almost 20,000 students, 8,500 University staff, 3,000 College employees, and 180,000 alumni, people are what make Oxford an internationally-renowned university.

  7. Oxford Colleges • The University has 38 independent and self-governing colleges, and 6 permanent private halls. • The collegiate system is at the heart of the University’s success, giving students and academics the benefits of belonging to both a large, internationally renowned institution and to a small, interdisciplinary academic community.

  8. An Oxford Union-style debate is an extension of the floor debate. Unlike the floor debate, which is a separate section of the debate, in Oxford Union-style debates audience members are expected to contribute during the debate itself.

  9. Oxford Libraries • The Bodleian Library, the University’s main research library, is over 400 years old and is globally acknowledged to be one of the greatest libraries in the world. Its priceless collections include the papers of six British Prime Ministers; a Gutenberg Bible; the earliest surviving book written wholly in English; a quarter of the world’s original copies of the Magna Carta; and almost 10,000 western medieval and renaissance manuscripts.

  10. Oxford Museum • The Ashmolean Museum, established in 1683, is the oldest museum in the UK and one of the oldest in the world. It houses the University’s extensive collections of art and antiquities, ranging back over four millennia. • The Museum of the History of Science is housed in the world’s oldest surviving purpose-built museum building. It contains the world’s finest collection of historic scientific instruments.
