  1. The Corvair By: Peyton Kuhn, Ryan Shannon, and Mason McLemore

  2. Why was the Corvair so dangerous?

  3. The Corvair used air from the engine to work the heater, which filled the front of the car with carbon monoxide.

  4. The independent suspension in the rear was poorly designed, this made the car handle very unpredictably during aggressive maneuvers.

  5. If the car crashed, the driver could die from impact of the steering column.

  6. What were some good things about the Corvair?

  7. The Corvair was great for driving in the snow. The rear end was heavier so it didn’t sway.

  8. The gas mileage on the Corvair got anywhere from 25 to 27 MPG.

  9. The Corvair made an excellent car for racing.

  10. Why did Chevrolet plan on ending the production of the Corvair?

  11. The car tended to leak oil, and that started to pollute the air.

  12. The heating in the car was very bad and didn’t work as well as the car should have.

  13. The Corvair was fairly cheap, but its engine was very expensive and heavy.

  14. How many Corvairs were produced throughout their time?

  15. During the first generation (1960-1964), Chevrolet produced 1,429,546 Corvairs.

  16. During the second generation (1965-1969), Chevrolet produced 405,564 Corvairs.

  17. Throughout Chevrolet’s 9 years of production, they produced 1,835,110 Corvairs total.
