  3. What is light pollution? • Glare – light striking your eye • Spillover – light that lights up more than it is supposed to • Skyglow – light that goes up and makes the sky “glow”

  5. Spillover(light beyond where it should be)

  6. Skyglowlight that makes the sky “glow”

  7. Why should I care? • Spoils the view of stars • Reduces your ability to see in darkness • Costs money • Wastes energy • Confuses and harms wildlife (sea turtles)

  8. These are good lights(lights are shielded and aim down)

  9. Solutions • Aim lights downward • Use lights that are fully shielded • Reduce light output (not so bright)
