What is theWVURCEmployee Role? • The WVURC is a not-for-profit corporation, separate, but functioning in support of WVU’s research & economic development efforts. • WVURC employees work within the WVU environment, represent & support WVU; however, are not employees of the higher education system or the State. • Therefore, work parameters are determined by the supervisor and environment; but, all employment-related entitlements are granted through the WVURC.

WVURC Position Basics • Advance the research or economic development missions of WVU • 100% externally funded • New or vacant positions • if “vacant” no existing legal obligation (pending legal, reassignment, layoff placement) • Do not have faculty or student status • The standard workweek is 40 hours • Positions are benefit-eligible if established to work > 30 hpw • Positions are temporary if established to work < 90 days

WVURC Classification & Compensation • Position purpose is equated to the US DOL Standard Occupation Code (SOC) definitions for function & base requisites • The SOC is cross-referenced to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) job classifications for WVURC reporting • The SOC is cross-referenced to the Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data & area definitions for market-based compensation determinations

WVURC Leave & Other • Affiliate benefits, services & products of WVU & WVHTF • credit union membership, parking, the Student Recreation Center, libraries, PRT, training, athletic tickets, and Outdoor Recreation Center rentals • Paid Time Off (PTO) at 1.0 FTE • 0 to 35 months = 5 hours / pay cycle • 36 to 95 months = 6.5 hours / pay cycle • 96(+) months = 8 hours / pay cycle • O&M EEO group = 8 hours / pay cycle • NOTE: Capped @ 5 PTO days into new FY • Holidays • Currently mirror the university calendar
