  4. Learner Description: • This PowerPoint will be applicable to the third grade students. At their age, the students will have a better ability to access and process information. Also, the third graders have already had an overall view of the world, so that they will possibly be more positive to learn another culture. • Learning Environment: • This lesson requires students to use computers to view the PowerPoint and have activities within it, so that the lesson should take place at a computer lab where each student will have a computer and a pair of head phone to finish the lesson.

  11. *Chinese Food* In this section, you will see some famous Chinese food which have different flavors! They are sweet, spicy, or sour! Are you ready?

  12. *Sugar-coated Sweet Potatoes* • Because this dish is made of sugar and sweet potatoes, it tastes sweet!

  13. *Lemon Chicken* • This dish has lemon in it, so that it tastes sour!

  14. *Ma Po Tofu* • Look at the picture and you can see that Ma Po Tofu is made of chili and tofu. Because chili is very spicy, the dish will be spicy hot too!

  15. Are you feeling a little hungry? Don’t worry! Now in America there are a lot of Chinese restaurants, and you can eat those food whenever you want! After the food, let’s see some beautiful Chinese traditional clothes! You will love it!

Chinese Traditional Costumes • Things to remember: • Chinese traditional costumes are clothes that people used to wear everyday but now they only wear them for special festival such as new year. • The colors of traditional costumes are mainly red, gold or blue. • Both boys and girls have their own kind of traditional costumes.

  17. This is the traditional wedding costume. On the boy’s clothes there are dragons and on the girl’s there are phoenixes. Dragons and phoenixes are holy creatures in China.

  18. This is another kind of Chinese traditional wedding costumes. They also have dragons on the man’s clothes and phoenixes on the woman’s clothes. In the picture is a white couple who is experiencing the “traditional Chinese wedding ceremony”.

  19. In the past, these kind of costumes were very expensive, so that only the royal families could afford them. A lot of Chinese queens and princesses used to wear them.

  20. These are the traditional costumes that men wore in the past. They were very expensive, and they were the symbol of power too. So only people from powerful or royal families could wear them.
