Their Lives! • Thievery Corporation consists of two people: Rob Garza and Eric Hilton. • Both have musical roots in punk, reggae, and two-tone ska. • They met in 1995 at the Eighteenth Street Lounge, which they own, in Washington D.C., and put out their first album in 1997. They now own the record label Eighteenth Street Lounge Music.

  3. Musical Influences!!! • Their genre is considered “downtempo electronica”. • They draw their influences from many different genres, like dub, reggae, acid jazz, Indian classical, Brazilian bossa nova, lounge, 60s “hippy music”, hip-hop, etc. • They describe themselves as a “psychotropic, aural concoction”. Many people equate their music with acid and other hallucinogenic drugs! • For instruments, they use mostly Mac computers, but also like to use analog instruments, vinyl records, and live recordings from guest artists!

  4. Discography!! Thievery Corporation has released many compilation albums… They also have released the following: Sounds From The Thievery Hi-Fi (1997), The Mirror Conspiracy (2000), The Richest Man In Babylon (2002), The Outernational Sound (2004), The Cosmic Game (2005), and Versions (2006). Easily their most popular song, “Lebanese Blonde”, was featured on the Garden State Soundtrack, and has gained international popularity.

Trivia!!!!!! • Their song “Indra” was used in opening shots of the West Wing season five. • The Song “Une Simple Histoire” was used in a biking/ free riding documentary called Roam. • “Lebanese Blonde” was used on the Garden State soundtrack. • Several of their songs were used in the Tiger Woods PGA Tour ’06 video game. • Their music is also frequently used on the TV show Sex and the City.

During live performances and on CD recordings, Thievery Corporation features many guests such as: David Byrne, Emiliana Torrini, Gigi Rezende, Gunjan, Loulou Djine, Notch, Norah Jones, Patrick de Santos, Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction, Rootz, Sista Pat, Sister Nancy, Sleepy Wonder, Verny Varela, Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips, and Zeebo.
