  3. Why study Spanish? Spanish is the official language of twenty countries worldwide and the fourth most-commonly spoken language in the world (by number of native speakers). Source: ElMundo.es Over 28 million people in the United States speak Spanish. Worldwide, there are nearly 325 million Spanish-speakers. Source: United States National Institutes of Health Many firms seek Spanish-speaking individuals and are willing to pay higher salaries for bilingual candidates.
