  1. Criminal Background Check (CBC) BATO Facts and Snacks

Who needs a CBC anyway?? • All “new hires” • Not currently employed at UWM or have not been employed within one year • Not currently UW System/State Agency employee** • Exemptions: • RA’s, fellows, Post-Docs, student employees, short term employees, interns, unpaid workers • Must meet Exemption Form requirements even if an above listed employment type

  3. Overview of CBC Process • Complete top of CBC form • Give CBC form to applicant at interview or immediately when you know you would like to hire • Employee completes and returns to Erica in BATO directly (confidential fax, email, envelope) • BATO processes through UWM Police Dept • Email sent to hiring department with outcome • Employment offer or Letter of Offer
