  2. History Karate began as a common fighting system known as “te”in Okinawan in Japan about 1300, because people had to learn how can protect themselves. In these years society was divided to many groups which fought against each others.

  3. Styles The World Union of Karate-do Federations (WUKF) recognizes these styles of karate in its kata list: Shōtōkan-ryū Shitō-ryū Gōjū-ryū Wadō-ryū Shōrin-ryū Uechi-ryū Kyokushinkai Budōkan

  4. Kimono this is one of the traditional part which didn`t changeto present days. Here are the main parts:

  5. Kata 型 形 Is a Japanese word describing detailed patterns of movements practiced either solo or in pairs. Kata are executed as a specified series of a variety of moves, with stepping and turning, while attempting to maintain perfect form.

  6. Kumite 組手 It means sparring, and is one of the three main sections of karate training, along with kata and kihon. Kumite is the part of karate in which you train against an adversary, using the techniques learned from the kihon and kata.

  7. Shotokan-ryu Was founded in 1931 by the late Grand Master Hironori Ohtsuka (1892-1982). Sensei Ohtsuka was already an accomplished master of JuJitsu, Shindo Yoshin Ryu, when Master Gichin Funakoshi introduced karate in Tokyo, Japan. Master Ohtsuka became interested in karate in 1922.
