  3. Foundations Graduation Plan • All incoming freshmen will graduate on the Foundations Graduation Plan. • For all Foundation Plans students must also pick an endorsement. • Student must earn 22 credits • + what is needed for their endorsement. Subject to change as HB5 plans are finalized

Foundations Graduation Plan • The 22 credits include: • English Language Arts – 4 credits • Mathematics – 3 credits • Science – 3 credits • Social Studies – 3 credits • Foreign Language – 2 credits • Physical Education – 1 credit • Fine Arts – 1 Credit • Electives (some required) – 5 credits Subject to change as HB5 plans are finalized

  5. Distinguished level of Achievement • A total of 4 credits in math, which must include Algebra II • A total of 4 credits in science • The remaining curriculum requirements • The curriculum requirements for at least one endorsement • DLA is a requirement for top 10% (UT 7%) automatic admissions

  6. Performance Acknowledgements • For outstanding performance in: • dual credit courses • bilingualism / biliteracy • AP tests (3+) • certification or license • PSAT / SAT / ACT

  20. Endorsement / Post-Secondary Plan Students will more than likely take some electives during high school that are not in their endorsement strand. This will be necessary to fill their schedules, and allow room for participation in extracurricular activities such as athletics.

  24. Course Selection Form • The Course Selection Form for the incoming freshmen was created to guide you and your student to pick appropriate freshman level classes for a strong start towards the Foundations Plan.

  25. Course Selection Form This is the form we will use to schedule your classes for your freshman year.

  26. Section by Section Instructions Circle once choice in each box. If you choose PAP, make sure you get your current teacher’s signature before turning your from in.

  27. Section by Section Instructions If your are currently in 8th Grade Math circle Algebra 1 If you are currently in Algebra 1 circle Geometry or Geometry PAP. Get Mr. Harl’s signature if you are choosing Geometry PAP Choose ASL1 or Spanish 1 If you are currently earning high school credit for Spanish 1 you may circle Spanish 2 or Spanish 2 PAP. If you choose PAP you must get a teacher signature.

  28. Section by Section Instructions For this section choose any of these classes you would like to participate or try out for next year. If there is a line beside it then a signature from your current teacher is required. If it is a tryout class, check it letting us know that you are trying out, we will add students to those classes based on tryout results given to us by the sponsor. Circle none or all that you plan on participating.   29. Section by Section Instructions There are 4 boxes that look like this. You must make a full year selection in every box.

  30. Section by Section Instructions The courses with nothing written by them are full year courses, and in that case, you circle only one thing per box . Dance IF you do not see the courses listed in red on your form you can write them in if you would like to select them. PE (.5) PE full year

  31. Section by Section Instructions The courses with (.5) beside them are ½ year courses. In that case you must pick two to make a full year selection.

  33. Choosing Electives As you choose your electives you should try to pick the classes available from within the endorsement box you checked. Subject to change as HB5 plans are finalized

  35. Choosing Electives The Course Description Guide is available online. This is where you can find course descriptions for all the courses listed on your form.

  37. Advisors visiting Middle School this week We will be having small group sessions for student questions about course selection, and to help them choose an endorsement.

  38. For All Pre-AP Classes Current teacher signature is required on course selection form. An AP/Pre-AP contract must be signed by both student and parent and returned with the course selection form.

  39. For All Pre-AP Classes You may pick up a contract at the Middle School during course selection. One contract covers all Pre-AP courses selected (you only need 1). Make sure you read the contract carefully and understand what you are committing to before you sign it.

  41. For All Pre-AP Classes Mrs. Powers will be giving a Pre-AP presentation on Tuesday, February 25th at 6:30 pm in the High School Auditorium

  42. Collegiate Academy This is an opportunity for LDHS students to take dual credit courses as early as 9th grade. If you are interested, you will need to turn in an interest form.

  43. Collegiate Academy Forms can be picked up tonight or at the middle school. You may turn these forms in tonight. Mrs. Poignant will collect them during the activities fair or on your way out of the orientation. If you do not turn a form in by 3/3/14 when course selections are due you will not be a candidate for the fall semester of 2014. Tentative Spring Course

  44. Collegiate Academy You must have at least a 83 or better in your current qualifying classes. If you think you can meet this requirement, and you are interested, you will need to return the Collegiate Academy Interest Form along with your course selection form.

  45. Collegiate Academy This will not affect your current course selection. Pick your courses as if not participating. Adjustments will be made to your schedule if you are approved for admittance.

  46. Collegiate Academy We offer freshman one class in the fall and one class in the spring. The fall class for next year will be BCIS 1305 (equivalent to BIM requirement) The spring class will be determined at a later date.

  47. Collegiate Academy Parent 101 Presentation by NCTC NCTC is here tonight. At the conclusion of this presentation they will be giving a PARENT ORIENTATION. Any parent interested in their student being a part of the academy should attend.
