Despite more than 50 years of soil conservation practice, soil erosion remains one of the USA’s most severe environmental problems.
Like the African Sahel, the interior grasslands of North America cover an immense area. They extend nearly 4000km from Texas in the south to Alberta in the north at least 800km from east to west.
