Reading/Language Arts Students will…. • read a wide variety of literature. • participate in the A-Z Fluency program. • learn to read poetry. • be engaged in reading and writing during “The Daily Five.” • write a book report and do a project each term. • review phonics through spelling patterns. • learn parts of speech through reading and writing. • go to the library each week.

  4. Book Reports 10-23-13 Mystery 12-18-13 Non-Fiction 2-19-14 Biography 5-7-14 Fantasy Information on the book reports and projects will be sent home in your child’s Daily Folder. It will also be on the Wiki page.

  5. Spelling Test • Spelling list will be kept in the Daily Folder. • New list will be given out on Tuesdays. • The list will be posted on our Wiki page. • Students must practice the words at home. • Test will be given on Tuesdays.

  6. Math • Learning through Investigations in class • Addition Facts (practice at home) • Money (teach coins and their value) • Time (hour, half hour, quarter hour, minutes) • Multiplication Facts • Multi-step problem solving

  7. Technology Student will… • Go the computer lab weekly. • Use computers in the classroom. • Learn how to use the iPad. • Keyboarding Look for a keyboarding program to practice with at home.

  8. Homework • Third graders should read 15-20 min. a night. They usually read their book report book and/or a book from the library. • Student should practice the spelling words nightly. • Students will start the A-Z Fluency program soon. (1 min.) • Homework worksheets will be sent home on Tuesdays, and are due the following Tuesday. • Practice Addition/Multiplication Facts.

  9. Discipline • Students earn tickets for making good choices. • Students may trade these tickets for rewards. • Third grade classes use a color change system. • Students are given warnings before moving a color. • Check the Discipline Calendar daily to encourage students to follow the rules.

  10. Cupcakes/Snacks or Treats • “Here is a quick reminder regarding birthday cupcakes/snacks. If you bring cupcakes or any snack/treat for your child’s class for his/her birthday, it must be dropped off in the front office. Please contact the teacher to let him/her know when you are bringing the cupcake/snack so they are prepared. We will be sure the cupcake/snacks are delivered to the classroom for students to eat at the end of the day. Please be sure all cupcake/snacks are pre-packaged with a readable ingredients list as per the Rockwall Food and Severe Allergy Management Plan. We cannot provide the cupcake/snacks to the students without the list. Thank you for your cooperation and help in keeping our Most Valuable Panther students healthy and safe!”
