  1. History It is not fiction if one says that Sri Lanka has a rich heritage in the art of healing. Out tiny island paradise is known to have operated the world’s oldest, if not the first hospital in Mihintale dating back to the 9th century BC. It is believed that the Buddhist monks at the ancient hospital practiced an advanced form of ayurvedic medicine known to bring cures to many forms of ailments and diseases with the use of medicinal herbs, elixirs and by immersing the human body in special herbal baths or troughs referred to as ‘BehethOru’ in Sinhalese.

Introduction Ayushma Ayurveda, a young and vibrant up start in recreational hydro systems has designed and developed an innovative hydro therapy spa system utilising water pressure and compressed air which stimulates over 22 pressure points of the human body.   3. Technical The Ayushmahydro spa can be constructed by wood or fibreglass. It consists of 1 one pressure pump which delivers compressed air to 22 adjustable jets strategically placed to stimulate the body’s vital points. The unit is capable of being connected to a solar hot water system or be used with special ayurvedic concoctions such as kasaya for specific ailments and requirements.

  4. Product Usage The Spa is generally used after a professional ayurvedic medical consultation followed by a massage session. The patient is fully immersed in the water with the face above the surface. The treatment can begin with a low pressure setting and then gradually increased to suit individual requirements and comfort levels.
