  1. What is Cloud Computing? Cloud Computing is an on-demand availability of data storage and computing power on the internet with pay-as-you-go pricing. The physical infrastructures to store these data are quite expensive & time-consuming. Therefore, in order to save the money as well as time the organizations use cloud computing to meet their needs.

  2. Characteristics of Cloud Computing On-demand self-service - The service that can sign up, paid and started by the users on their own by using the available cloud resources. Broad network access - The users are allowed to access the services through the internet. Resource pooling - Different customers are allowed to use the same servers, storage or other computing resources which forms the multi-tenancy. Rapid elasticity– The service is flexible and can be scaled up or down according to the need of the customer. Measured service –The customers need not to pay for any infrastructure they do not use. They are just ought to pay for what they use.

  3. Cloud Deployment Models Public Cloud- In Public Cloud model, a vendor who offers the services of the cloud owns the infrastructure which is accessible to the public. There is a huge pool of resources & the services are shared by lots of users. Private Cloud- This is a privately owned cloud where the user owns the cloud and only they can have the access to it which makes the data and transactions way much secured. The users are allowed to have a control over resources when compared to the Public Cloud model. Community Cloud- In the Community Cloud model, different organizations altogether owns the infrastructure which serves to be cost effective. Hybrid Cloud- This model is a combination of public, private and community cloud. On the basis of execution and management of tasks, the hybrid deployment model is more complex as compared to the other three.

  4. Cloud Service Models IaaS- IaaS model provides an infrastructure to be used by the users to run their applications, storage, operating systems and many more which is very reliable and cost effective. PaaS- PaaS model is a cost effective model that provides a platform to develop and run the applications. SaaS- SaaS model, provides an access to software and its functions remotely as a Web-based service that is, users can access software applications from the cloud. The users cannot control the underlying infrastructure just like the other service models.
