  3. Paragraph Writing Knowledge • Type: declarative and procedural • Components: ♦Organization knowledge ♦Grammatical knowledge ♦Orthographical knowledge

  4. Organization Knowledge • concept of paragraph • controlling idea • major and minor support sentence • good development • unity • cohesiveness • genres (syllabus)

  5. Grammatical Knowledge • Sentence elements (subject and predicate) • Concord between subject and predicate, noun and pronoun, and noun and article • Verb: finite and non-finite • Order: head and modifier

  6. Orthographical Knowledge • Capital letter • Full-stop, question mark, exclamation mark • Comma

  7. Classroom Activities • knowledge acquisition • knowledge use • peer evaluation • self-evaluation

  8. Knowledge Acquisition • Understanding the concepts • Testing their concepts • Confirming the concepts • Evaluating the concepts

  9. Knowledge Use Writing the sample: • write controlling ideas and paragraphs • check the grammar • check the punctuation Paragraph requirement: at least 5 sentences
