  1. Rembrandt Rembrandt’s movement of art was Baroque which meant his art was very ornate, dramatic, and realistic. Rembrandt was born in Holland in 1606. He went to a university but was bored, he dropped out and studied art. He was paid for his paintings but never really had much money on him because he was a big spender. He went bankrupt, which meant auctioning off all his paintings and his house. He died in 1669. Rembrandt produced 600 paintings, about 300 etchings, and nearly 2,000 drawings during his lifetime. To Me, I think Rembrandt’s self-portraits are amazing and if he was still alive I’d definitely ask him to make one of myself. His artwork was very detailed in some pictures it feels as if you are there.

  2. Wassily Sandinsky Wassily Sandinsky

  3. Wassily Kandinsky was born Decmeber 16, 1866 im Moscow, Russia. He died December 13, 1944. The Bauhaus was an innovative architecture and art school whose objectives included the merging of plastic arts with applied arts. The school pursued its activities in Berlin until its dissolution in July 1933. Kandinsky then left Germany and settled in Paris. The Nazis closed the school to so called complications but wound up becoming one of their headquarters.

  4. In Paris he was quite isolated since abstract painting—particularly geometric abstract painting—was not recognized, the artistic fashions being mainly Impressionism and cubism. Since he was the start of abstract art, all of his paintings were abstract. His main life struggle was that he had to stay isolated from all the other artists. He had kept what he was painting, a secret. Because everyone else was into impressionism and cubism and he was into abstract it wasn’t recognized yet.

  5. I thought it was interesting how he was painting abstract art during the impressionism and cubism period. He was basically the start of abstract art. He would also mix sand with his paint to bring the texture out of what he was painting sometimes.

  6. Death and life What I love about his painting are the different colors he uses for each painting. Gustav Klimt is an Austrian Symbolist painter. He was very important in the Vienna Art Nouveau movement. He was born in Baumgarten, Vienna on July 14, 1862. Like said above, he was part of the art symbolism. Symbolism was a late nineteenth century art movement of French and Belgain origin in poetry. GUSTAV KLIMT I also love how the title of each goes with the painting. The Vienna Art Nouveau or the Vienna sucession was a group of Austrian artists who had left the Association of Austrian Artists. I don't feel confused on what his paintings are expressing. With other paintings, it takes me a while to try to figure out what message it's trying to send. But not with his! Klimt received a scholarship to study in Vienna School of Arts and Crafts. The Kiss Before Klimt's death, he recieved a first prize in Rome by his painting Death and life. He unfortunately suffered from stroke and pneumonia. By: Kelly Rodriguez

  7. Diego Rivera Man of murals Born December 8,1886. He started lookin at painting at a young age, and took up classes. Diego Rivera became a Mexican painter and muralist that was born in Guanajuato. He studied painting in Mexico. He later studied cubism and other arts in places such as Europe and Paris in 1907. then eventually he returned back to Mexico, where he painted murals that reflected his historical context. He died from heart failure in November 1957. He was remembered for his talents in Mexican murals and tributes to the earthy folk traditions. He is one of Mexico’s loved painters. Some of his art: Thank You!! In Diego's art he had studied cubism, but he was mostly remembered for his murals. His life was just as dramatic, as in his art. My favorite of his art is this one to the right I chose Diego Rivera because I remembered his name some where. I had viewed some of his art last year in Spanish class when we learned about Mexican history. Also, I chose him because there are many artist of all different t origins but I think that it is amazing and I'm proud for him that he could put out as a role model for anyone to be a painter if they want. 8. Roy was part of a lot of artistic movements. Like, Cubism, Expressionism, and Abstract Expressionism. He was an American pop artist. He had a comic book style. Expressionism is when an artist changes reality for an emotional effect. The time period was for Cubism was 20th century, expressionism was also the 20th century, and abstract expressionism stared during War World II. Most of the paintings I saw had a girl with beautiful blond hair and she was a cartoon. Roy Lichtenstein was born on October 27,1923 in Manhattan, New York. He went to public school until he was 12. Then he enrolled at Manhattan’s Franklin School for boys. Art was not a subject in his school but that didn’t matter because he wasn’t into art at that age he was into jazz. He went to a lot of jazz concerts and he saw a lot of paintings of musicians playing their instruments. That’s when he started to see art in a different way. That summer he went to art Students Of New York. Later in life he went to Ohio State University, which offer a studio courses and a degree in fine arts. His studies were interrupted when he had to go to war in War World II. (1943-1946) When he came back he came back to see that his father was dying. He decided to go back to Ohio State again because there was nothing for him to do in New York. In 1949 he got his degree and got married to Isabel Wilson. Their married didn’t work out and they got a divorce. He moved to Cleveland were he stayed for six years. At that time he was painting pieces that had to do with Cubism and Expressionism. He had a son and moved back to New York. Then he went to Abstract Expressionism. He had and exhibition in Europe. In 1997 he died from pneumonia. I think Roy was very creative because he is the only artistic that I know that painted cartoon. I think his drawings are very eye catching. Their really different compare to other artists.

  9. Raphael was part of the highrenaissance movement of 1495 through 1520. This movement was about making a general style of art that were about things like drama and balance. I think that his work is good but, honestly, it kind of looks like he just copied off of Da Vinci (Which he sort of did) He was born on April 6, 1483 and died on April 6, 1520. He was born in Urbino and studied in Perugia, but once he moved to Florence, he took to the styles of Da Vinci and Michaelangelo. One of his famous works is The School of Athens. Raphael/Raffaello

  10. George Pierre Seurat was and French artist born in Paris, France on December 2, 1859 Seurat was also a drafts men. He was known for painting in the 1900th century one thing that was similar in all his art work was that all his art was made with pointillism. Seurat The great thing about Seurat’s pictures was that all his pictures were a whole bunch of dots. Infact his movement was called Neo-impressionism or pointillism which explains the dots or points that he drew to make the picture he also worked with modern art. The movement lasted from 1880 to 1900. The movement probably ended so short because of Seurat's death at the age of 31 on March 29, 1891. Seurat didn’t go through many problems because his family was very wealthy he was born in Paris and naturally he began art and he went to an art school for two years. Soon afterwards he had to serve his time in the military. When his time was done he met up with some old friends of his, and work in an art studio. After working very hardly on a project of his, his project rejected from a local art gallery in Paris. From then on he was just an independent artist meaning an artist just for the sake of art not for profit. My favorite picture of seurat has to be Sunday on La Grande Jatte it is right above this text if you didn’t know. By: Osiris Jackson
