  1. We’ve all been there. We wait until the last minute and realize that you have absolutely no idea what to buy for that special occasion. Whether it be for a birthday party, anniversary, Christmas or just a surprise, finding that perfect gift can be very stressful. We put this stress on ourselves, but there really is a tactic for picking out a gift that they will never forget. The most important thing to remember when buying a gift from someone is really knowing something special about that person. What do they like? What would make them feel good about themselves and thankful to you? Let’s start off with an easy occasion – a baby shower. Who doesn’t like buying a baby gift? First of all, the actual recipient of the gift won’t be the one judging it (chances are he or she hasn’t even left the womb yet), it’s the mother. If it’s a first-time mother, buying something a little more traditional like a layette or a silver piggy bank would be appropriate. This is their first baby so these items may mean more to them. Bonus points for getting them engraved or embroidered! For a more experienced mother, chances are they will probably prefer something more practical – beauty products like a large box of diapers (not newborn size) and practical outfits that are for size 3 months and older. Moms with multiple children know that babies grow fast so having too much newborn size stuff is just a waste. So, keep in mind what the mom wants. If they have a registry that’s great, but you are always free to purchase whatever you want, even if she didn’t register for it. Here is something that is a little more challenging – your significant others birthday. Let’s face it, unless they have specifically told you what they want you are probably losing your mind trying to figure out what to get him or her. Stop stressing yourself out and just think. What does this person value in life more – presents or experiences? If it’s presents, think back to when you saw him or her admiring something that they didn’t buy for themselves. Perhaps a beautiful necklace or a set of golf clubs. Perhaps even a high-end handbag. It doesn’t have to be a big gift, just something you put some actual thought into. If your significant other likes to experience more, perhaps purchase tickets to a favorite concert or a gift certificate for a cruise. You can then purchase something small to wrap that will be the message or clue for the gift. Maybe a beach towel and a sunhat for a cruise or a nice-looking frame to put the concert tickets in. The most important thing is to make it memorable. You see the most important thing about gift giving is knowing and understanding the person you are buying the gift for. And don’t be so generic and buy something that they could have went into any ole retailer to buy. Check out www.shoptofind and you are certain to find a unique gift and at the same time support smaller retailers that provide top-of-the-line quality gifts sure to please the most elusive gift recipients.
