  3. What is the EERB? An Internet platform allowing central bankers from all over the world to share their experience in the field of economic and financial education.

  4. EERB – Why? The world economy is changing quickly. The globalization and the technological revolution have triggered rapid economic and social development. This should be seen not only as an advantage, but also as a great challenge. In order to profit from those dynamic processes, it is essential to educate societies about the changes we are witnessing and their implications. This is also a challenge for central banks which launch numerous economic and financial education initiatives around the world. The EERB provides means of sharing their educational experience, which makes it a great platform for the exchange of valuable educational ideas and know-how.

News This section contains information on broad aspects of the economic and financial education activities run or planned by the central banks, as well as on important global educational initiatives in that field. Here you can find relevant information about new programs and ideas, results of activities and surveys, as well the information about new elements of the Resource Bank.

  10. Surveys What People know about economics and the economic policy? Where do they get the economic information from? What is the level of the economic knowledge of the Society? What are the needs and expectations of different groups: students, teachers, journalists? How do they like to learn? These are some basic questions that should be answered by educators before any education action is going to be launched. Results of surveys, opinion polls, expert analysis are always helpful when it comes to a decision: what, when, where, or how the action should be implemented. Even a basic research or survey is always useful while planning the educational effort of a central bank. In this section you will find abstracts or complete surveys from different countries.

  12. Hints Educators often learn from each other. It saves scarce resources and helps to find the best solution for planned activities in the field of economic or financial education. This section is a place where central bankers from different countries can exchange ideas and share experience about the economic education process.

Events In this section you will find useful information about the economic and financial education activities in the central banks – international conferences, seminars, workshops, etc. The relevant information from other international or national institutions will also be included in that section.

  16. Tools This section includes detailed descriptions of educational tools presented in unified forms. The tools are clearly explained and easy to compare with one another. This section organizes the tools by dividing them into four groups: • Multimedia, • Programs, • Publications, • Events.

  18. Tools - Multimedia Multimedia educational tools are the most modern tools that use popular communication channels. The rapid development of the Internet created an opportunity for economic education on a large scale, on equal terms to anyone who has an access to the Internet. This is a huge advantage for economic educators, but also a great challenge. Each day economic education Internet sites or Portals are to compete with other popular www sites. To succeed, they must attract the attention of many target groups, especially young people. In order to achieve that it is good to offer a variety of products that everybody could choose what he or she likes most. Movies, cartoons, computer games are other very effective and popular tools of economic education.

Tools - Programs Economic education programs are specially designed sets of tools that have at least clearly defined goals, target groups, budgets, schedules and detailed tasks to achieve program's goals. In central banks they play important role in fulfilling the functions of a central bank and are usually placed within the general communication strategy of the bank. They are most organized and scheduled method of promoting the economic or financial education in a broad environment of a central bank. In many cases theses are long term actions, developing and changing year after year to meet the requirements of the targeted audience.

  22. Tools - Publications Publications, both printed and the electronic versions, are among most popular education tools used by the central banks. These are traditional education tools which have a significant impact on those who want to learn.

  24. Tools - Events Events are quite popular education tools in the central banks all over the world. In a contemporary world central banks endeavor to be transparent, credible, competent and friendly institutions. They often open doors for citizens who want to learn more about the money, central banking and monetary policy. Most central banks do open its premises to external visitors. In most cases the visitors come to see the Money Museum and learn about  the money and national currency. Sometimes also larger events are organized - when everybody can visit the central bank during the Open Days. Many central banks organize conferences, seminars and workshops where the central bank experts educate those who want to learn the particular topic.
