  1. Trip To Antarctica By: Lisa, Kayli, Adit, Evelyn and Elya

  2. Day 1 Ushuaia • At 07:00 am we arrived on Ushuaia, Argentina by bus it took us 12 hours to get there. After we arrived on Ushuaia, we took a rest in a hotel. Then we went to see the building named Museo Marítimo del Cantábrico. It’s a museum and its an indoor zoo. There were sharks, turtles, fish, dinosaur fossils and many more. We have tasted some dishes at the Kaupé retaurant. This restaurant served traditional food from Ushuaia. Then we hiked the Glacier Martian. When we reached the summit, we could see the beautiful parts of Ushuaia. That’s what we did on our first day on Ushuaia.

  3. Day 2 Ushuaia - Embarkation DayMeals included: 1 breakfast, 1 dinner • At 06:00 am we woke up and had our breakfast, then we went to Cerro Castor to go skiing, snowboarding, and other winter games. We spent 4 hours playing there. Next, we went diving. it cost us about US$150 + US$40 for 2 dives. For lunch we went to another traditional restaurant named Kuar restaurant. The food there was not very expensive but it tasted good. Then we went on a Catamaran trip. we went to a special place where we could see animals like the sea lions, penguins, cormorants, and many more. And then we went back to the hotel at 09:00 pm to take a rest.

  4. Day 3-4 Drake Passage • Today we are heading to Antarctica . • How to get to Antarctica. ? • Well we go from Ushuaia and we sale trough the Drake Passage. We were prepared for the rough water but luckily today the water wasn’t rough so we sailed smoothly. 

  5. Day 5 and 6 South Shetland Islands and Antarctica • Today we went to Orne Harbor, there was a passage guarded by a dark rock tower of Spigot Peak on one side, with steep walls and a glacier at the end of it. The cove is called Orne harbor and it’s 1.9 km wide. The Belgian Antarctic Expeditioner under Gerlache discovered it in 1898.                                                                                                                                                               On a ridge a colony of Chinstrap penguins covered the ice, and after landing with a zodiac, myself and a few other people trekked in the deep snow in zigzags to get to the ridge. It was really tiring but worth it when we got to the top. Up there, we could see the nesting sites of the Chinstraps, and the view over the harbour back to the “Ocean Nova”. It was really pretty…

  6. Day 7 and 8 South Shetland Islands and Antarctica • Today we are still in Orne Harbour, I attempted trying the ‘Polar Plunge’ with everyone else, how and what is it? Well, we just jumped into the freezing, icy Antarctic Bay. The cold strikes you immediately when u get in.

  7. Day 9 • Its really quiet here in the icy atmosphere. We reach Neck harbour today, and we went skiing! It was really fun skiing across the snow, getting some fast action exercise.. we take lots of pictures because this expedition will be one to remember.

  8. Day 10 Drake Passage • We start our journey back across Drake Passage along our journey we spend our time scouting for whales and watching sea birds. The whales we saw were orcas (killer whale) and humpback whales. The orcas hunt everything from fish to shark and even other kinds of whales. The humpback whales were loud their sequences of howls, moans and cries can continue for hours. We saw Scotia birds , albatross and Pintado Petrels some of the birds were flying right  above us ,the albatross had  large  wing. There was not much wind but it was still cold.

  9. Day 11 and 12 • Day 11 = Drake Passage •  We watched sea birds and whales again but we spend most of our time relaxing and enjoying the view of the ocean. • Day 12= back to Ushuaia • We arrive back in Ushuaia in the early morning we were very tired because we had to wake up early. Now our trip has ended
