  1. Planned research activities at IRA on RoF solutions for AAlo Federico Perini1, Jader Monari1, Pierluigi Debernardi2 - 1 INAF-IRA (I), 2 IEIIT-CNR (I) In the INAF AAlo design the antenna signals are sent to a local processing node (called digital station) through analogue optical links Ultra low cost and low power consumption devices are required due to the huge amount of antennas and receivers General link specifications: Frequency band: 70-450MHz Max link length: 500mt SFDR=50dBRIN=107dB/Hz2/3 Several examples of RoF links based on VCSEL devices reported in literature have specifications close to the requested. Collaboration IRA/INAF - IEIIT-CNR Pierluigi Debernardi VCSEL designer Circuit level Device Technology level Device under investigation: 850nm (single and multi mode) 1300nm (single mode) Optical fibre under investigation: multimode (62.5um, OM3 50um) and standard single mode Possible useful test beds: BEST Receiver and Back End BEST-2 16MHz@408MHz DFB 1310nm 9/125 loose fibre cable link length: 200mt Total power AAlo link prototype AAlo links prototypes could be compared with proven DFB link technology already installed and working on the antennas by means of real astronomical observations BEST-3lo 120-240MHz DFB 1310nm 9/125 loose fibre cable link length: 300mt Correlation AAlo link prototype
