Milwee Middle School Mission Statement The mission of Milwee Middle School is to foster rigorous, relevant, and inquiry-based learning that provides wholly educated individuals who are encouraged to reach their academic, artistic, social and physical potential by creating partnerships with regional industry and government, coupled with the efforts of outstanding faculty and staff.

  4. Forms/Handouts Due 1st Period by Thursday August 21st Milwee Security Card Health Services Emergency Card Free and Reduced lunch (also online) Health Insurance

Schedules • Bell Schedule • Green (odd periods) & White (even periods) Days • Lunch schedule- 3rd (Green Days) and 4th (White Days) Periods • A, B, C • List of Teachers • Guidance Counselors will not be available for schedule changes unlessyou have an error on your schedule, such as: • Missing a class period • Duplicate class/lunch • No lunch

Electronic Devices May only be used during the following times Before school (must be put away at 9:15) At Lunch (must be put away prior to leaving patio) After School (upon exiting the building) In the classrooms with teacher permission (Educational use only) Headphones/earbuds/speakers and all electronic devices and accessories must be put away and out of sight. Failure to comply will result in confiscation and will only be returned to your parent or guardian.

  7. Cafeteria Rules & Information • You are encouraged to bring your lunch this week, lines are longer than normal. • Students need to place their backpack on their seat BEFORE they get into a lunch line. • DO NOT touch any other student’s belongings once they are on the seat. • School Store is sometimes open during lunch, but usually before school. It is located in the courtyard by the gym. • No running or skipping to the lunch lines. • Absolutely No Food or trash is allowed outside of the cafeteria during lunches.

  10. Conferences with Guidance Counselors Sign in at the front office with the guidance secretary (Mrs. Cotto.) If your guidance counselor is not available, return to class and the counselor will call for you. If your situation requires immediate attention, please let the guidance secretary know it is an emergency.

  11. Restroom Procedures • Students will not disrupt class or instructor to ask permission to use bathroom (Cross fingers). • Follow established sign out procedure for classroom and use restroom pass when leaving room. • Completely fill out the log using your first name, last name, date and time.

  12. Hallway Procedures Hall Pass Policy Restroom Passes - Lanyards Planners (for travel to all other areas) Freeze Time First and last 10 minutes of class “To The Right” Campaign Stay to the right of the walkways

Tardy Policy When tardy to class, students will: • Provide excuse note to teacher. • Quickly and quietly sit down and begin working on assignment. • Be aware of the Milwee Tardy Policy and the consequences for tardy behavior (next slide.) • We will be conducting regular tardy sweeps throughout the school year.

  14. Tardy Policy Each 9 weeks: • 1st tardy- Warning/conference with student • 2nd tardy- 1 day lunch detention and phone call home • 3rd tardy- 3 days lunch detention and phone call home • 4th tardy- Wednesday school and phone call home • 5th tardy- Discipline referral and phone call home.

  17. Detentions • Class Detentions are assigned by teachers. • Lunch Detentions are in the cafeteria on the stage. • Wednesday after school detention • 1 hour detention assigned by teacher • 2 hour detention assigned by Dean Alvarado or administrators

  18. Lunch Detention Procedures • Immediately report to stage. DO NOT GET YOUR LUNCH FIRST. • Sign in to the detention log. • Student expectations: • No talking • Face forward toward curtain • May not leave seat without approval • Use the stairs to enter and exit the stage area *Failure to follow these expectations will result in further consequences (referral, Wednesday detention.)

  19. Power Hour • White days during the 1st half of 8th period. • Report on time to the current power hour class. • This is a time for enrichment and intervention. • Universal classroom procedures apply.

  20. Clubs White days during the 2nd half of 8th period (after Power Hour.) Report to your assigned club on time. Do not leave assigned club without permission.

  21. Club Detention Failure to comply with expectations during Power Hour or Club Time will result in Club Detention.

  23. 7th Period MILWEE MIDDLE SCHOOL PRE-IB and ENGINEERING MAGNET

  24. Media Center Media Center hours are from 8:40 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. During lunches, students are allowed to use the media center only with a teacher’s pass. Teachers will only write you a media pass during your class period. You are not allowed to interrupt another class to get to the media center. Media center will only be open on non-testing days.

  25. Textbooks • Textbooks may be issued for academic and some elective classes next week for take home use. • Lost or Damaged books… • You will be required to pay a fine. • You will not be able to participate or attend school functions such as school dances until you locate the book or pay the fine. • Failure to pay any school fines could negatively impact HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION!

  27. Before School • Free breakfast in the cafeteria is available to all students every day. • Assigned areas: • Patio • Carver Courtyard • Inside the cafeteria (breakfast) • Inside the media center (do not hang out outside) • Outside the gym (school store)

  28. Dismissal Procedures • Bus riders must immediately report to the bus ramp. • Check the “bus board” to see where your bus is located on the bus ramp. • If your bus number is not on the board, wait in the basketball court area until your bus has been called. • Car riders are to go to the front of the school in front of bldg. 9. • DO NOT hang out by the Media Center. • Walkers are to exit from the closest gate in front of the administration building. DO NOT linger at the car or bus ramp. Students will earn a discipline referral for being in an unauthorized area if they violate dismissal rules.
