  4. 2 Introduction to Organization Objectives: • At the end of this lesson students are expected to: • Describe what an organization is and how the concept of an organization has changed. • Understand the role of an organization in the individual as a person and in the economy as a whole. • Differentiate the characteristics of a traditional and new organization.   6. 2 Introduction to Organization Introduction Our understanding about business is very important because it is necessary for us to understand the topics on organization. Each organization has its own distinct goal or purpose. A key issue in accomplishing the goals that will be identified in the planning process is structuring the work of the organization. Organization will be defined as a group of people, with ideas and resources, working toward common goals Management / Human Resource Area Colegio de San Juan de Letran

  7. 2 Introduction to Organization LOOK Ahead • (As a preparation for the next topic, the facilitator will ask the students to divide the whole class into four (4) groups. Each group will be tasked to create one small business organization to be managed by them.) • Consider the following: • Business Name • Goal or Purpose • Nature or line of Business • Capitalization (Ways on how to raise the said amount) • No. of employees (what positions?) • (This activity will help and prepare students for the next topic about organization and its role in the individual and the economy as a whole.   9. 2 Introduction to Organization Lesson Contents • Charateristics of Organization • Each organization has a distinct purpose typically expressed in terms of goal or a set of goals that it hopes to accomplish • It is composed of people working together necessary for the organization to achieve its goals. • Organization develops a certain deliberate structure so that the members can do their work harmonously to lessen if not avoid conflict. Each members of this organization has a chance to suggest and get involved in any decision making process. The position or job is temporary and result oriented.   13. 2 Introduction to Organization Mental Flex • Differentiate traditional from modern organizations Ask students to choose five (5) concepts of traditional organization and 5 concepts of the new organization.   15. 2 Business in General Assignment • The traditional and modern organization Students will download from the internet one example of a traditional type of an organization and one modern or new type of an organization. Selected students will present their report or assignment in the class. The facilitator will also include his/her own example which he downloaded from the internet to strengthen the concepts and knowledge of the students about these types of organizations. Write your answer in the box provided below. You may use separate • paper if necessary.) • Explain how an organization will be able to become competitive in the modern and sometimes ruthless environment? • Is unity possible in the highly diverse and competitive world of business?   17. 2 Business in General Cases A based-on-reality cases reflect the major theme of this module-lesson and help students refine their decision-making skills. The facilitator is expected to guide his students through out the case analysis. Suggested Cases: a.
