  2. Unprecedented Data Samples Gap studies barely started on jet + Z analysis (Tamsin) Huge data samples on tape in these and other areas: J/, W, b, photon How about diffractive top? Glueballs? What are we waiting for???? Added bonus: It turns out that last several months data has working dipole detector (Mike) After shutdown: Full FPD Need your help to get physics results out!!!

  5. Goals for 2003 (from Feb.) • Data taking with integrated Phase I • Add FPD triggers to global list • Complete funding and implementation of Phase II • Preliminary results on several physics topics • Would like to produce a detailed list in all areas: detector, software, PID, physics

  6. Steps Needed for Physics • Partial list of steps needed to get to physics • quality data: • Commission AFE’s • Include trigger scintillator information/ • basic and/or terms • Alignment of FPD • FPD database • Activate FPD_Reco • Halo understanding, reduction, and rejection • FPD info in DST’s and Thumbnails

  7. Pressure to Produce • Need results to justify use of bandwidth • Luminosity is going up (along with halo) • FPD window is limited (quadrupoles out in 2006) • New orbits at some point may lower acceptance • Many new CDF results
