  3. INTRODUCTION • The Health of our people in UgunjaSub-County and by extension, the whole of Siaya County citizenry, is extremely poor as clearly indicated in the UgunjaSub-County and Siaya County Strategic Plans (2013-2018). • The above concern is captured in the Table 1 below.

  5. SITUATION ANALYSIS 1 This disturbing situation compelled the Sub-County Health Committee set up by the MP Hon. James OpiyoWandayi, to conduct a situation analysis on the status of health services in the constituency. The findings of this survey is the subject of our discussion this evening • The Sub-County had 13 Health Facilities: • Public Health Facilities 10 • Mission Facilities 2 • Private Facilities 1.

SITUATION ANALYSIS 3 • Situation analysis conducted in Public Health Facilities: • Two (2) Health Centers (Ligega and Sigomere) • Seven (7) Dispensaries (Rambula, Got Osimbo, Tingare, Uluthe, Uhuyi, Sikalame and Simenya) • Situation analysis not done in Ambira Sub-County Hospital • Had a Strategic and a Work Plan.

  8. FINDINGS (1) • Major deficiencies in the areas of: • Infrastructure • Equipment and Supplies • Human resource

SUMMARY (2) HEALTH PERSONNEL • Absorb all Health Workers under Partners • Recruit and Retain Health Workers INCREASE NUMBER OF HEALTH PERSONNEL THROUGH ACTIVE TRAINING • Identify School Leavers • Support them for training • Bond them MEDICAL TRAINING IN THE COUNTY • Facilitate to Provide Quality Training
