  2. What is PTSD? • Post-traumatic stress disorder is an anxiety disorder characterized by terrifying physical or emotional trauma that causes the person that survived through the horrible event to have persistent , reminding thoughts, memories and flashbacks of the event.

  3. Who does if affect? • PSTD affects all ages and all sex’s. It affects people who survive through a serious event.

  4. What is the cause of this disorder? • The causes of the disorder are terrifying events such as: • personal assaults • accidents • military combat • natural disasters • Sexual assaults

  5. What are the symptoms? • The symptoms include: • Frightening thoughts and memories • Sleep problems • Detachment from others • Easily startled or frightened • Feeling emotionally numb

  6. Treatment options • Counseling • Medications • Group treatment • Psychotherapy
