  1. Volume Meshing with Mimics Subha Srinivasan Feb 9th, 2009

  2. Procedure • Create Masks • Make 3-D surface from mask • Open remesher (FEA tab) and select the 3-D you want to make mesh from • Remesher will show the surface mesh. Inspect its quality. Typical shape measure used is Height to Base (N): should be greater than 0.3. • Auto remesh (under remesher) to achieve quality of surface desire. (this is important since volume mesh works off of surface) • Hit create volume mesh on remesher • Status is shown on log window. If there are any errors in surface, this will show. In which case, use fixing tab to fix errors (mostly automated) • Create volume mesh, give edge length and analysis parameter (recommended: aspect ratio to be 25)

  3. Surface Mesh in Remesher

  4. Surface Mesh in Remesher

  5. Viewing Volume Mesh • Go to 3-D view in remesher, and use sectioning tab to view volume mesh • Close remesher, volume mesh should be visible in mimics under FEA tab • Materials can be tagged with mimics and exported in desired format
