  2. The NP2014 CourseMate and eBook are available from CengageBrain. If you already have an account, log in with your e-mail address and CengageBrain password. If you don’t have an account, use the Sign Up link to create one. Working with the CourseMate eBook

  3. From the HomePage you can add the NP2014 CourseMate to your bookshelf using your credit card (or a keycode you purchased from the bookstore). From your bookshelf, click the Open button to access the main NP2014 CourseMate screen. Working with the CourseMate eBook

  4. When the NP2014 CourseMate opens, select the chapter you’re working on. Working with the CourseMate eBook

  5. The CourseMate navigation bar lists activities such as Pre-Quizzes, Audio Overviews, and Summary Quizzes.” Click the navigation link to start the activity. Working with the CourseMate eBook

  7. When the eBook opens, you can navigate using the Back and Next Buttons. Working with the CourseMate eBook

  9. From the first page of any chapter, you can click the purple circles to jump to any section of the chapter or to the end-of-chapter activities. Working with the CourseMate eBook

  10. Many figures in the book are marked with clickable icons that turn photos into videos and line drawings into animations. Working with the CourseMate eBook

  11. Technical terms are highlighted in bold the first time they are used. You can click any bold term to view a definition. Working with the CourseMate eBook

  12. TRY IT! activities throughout the chapter help you focus on key concepts. The computer responds to your answers, but they are not tracked or sent to your instructor, so feel free to explore any of the options, especially if you are not sure of an answer. Working with the CourseMate eBook

  14. Each chapter is divided into five sections. Each section ends with a QuickCheck. Enter your answers. The computer doesn’t check for uppercase or lower case. Working with the CourseMate eBook

  15. Depending on your browser settings, the answers might appear in a new browser windows or on a tab. After you review your scores, close the browser window or tab for the answers. Don’t close the ebook window! Working with the CourseMate eBook

  19. New Perspectives Labs are an active way to explore one or more of the concepts presented in a chapter. Lab objectives are listed, so you know what to expect. Click the purple icon to start the lab. After completing the lab, you can also complete the lab assignments. Working with the CourseMate eBook

  21. The Key Terms page can be used like flashcards. Try to define a term in your own words, then click the term to see if your definition matches the book’s. Working with the CourseMate eBook

  23. The Interactive summary helps you review the chapter and recall key concepts. Fill in the blanks, and then click the Check Answers button. Working with the CourseMate eBook

  24. The computer checks your answers and send them to your instructor if you have tracking enabled. Working with the CourseMate eBook

  25. Every chapter includes Practice Tests created by selecting ten questions from a test bank of approximately 150 questions. You can take multiple tests and each one will be unique. If you have tracking enabled for this session, your scores will be sent to your instructor. Working with the CourseMate eBook

  26. On the last page of each chapter, you can work with the Concept Map activity to make cognitive links among a set of key concepts. The computer checks your answers and sends your scores to your instructor if tracking is enabled. Working with the CourseMate eBook
