  1. Config → Redox Couples... Decouple redox pairs for electron donating and accepting half reactions.

  2. e− donor e− acceptor Enter initial fluid composition including electron donating and accepting species.

  3. “add” → Fixed → pH “add” → Kinetic → Microbial reaction Go to the Reactants pane to fix pH and enable microbial kinetics.

  4. Enter microbial redox reaction. Enter thermodynamic constraints and kinetic parameters, including: • rate constant • half-saturation constants • initial biomass • growth yield and decay constant • promoting and inhibiting species • ATP threshold energy

  5. Rate is initially biomass limited, but increases until thermodynamic and kinetic limitations develop.
