  • Part number: IDU-SO (STM-1 Optical, 1+0) or IDU-SW (STM-1 Electrical, 1+0)

    • Consists of

    • Chassis, Backplane

    • 5 modules

      • CCM-4800: Power Supply Module

      • CCM-4500: Controller Module

      • CCM-4100: Standard I/O Module

      • CCM-4600: Modem and IF/Telemetry Module

      • CCM-4155 or -4156: STM-1 Optical or Electrical Mini IO Module

SDH 1+0 Capability: IDU-SO (STM-1 Optical, 1+0) or IDU-SW (STM-1 Electrical, 1+0)

Dependent on available bandwidth: can adjust for operating bandwidth

  • Consists of

  • Chassis, Backplane

    • 7 modules

    • CCM-4800: Power Supply Module, Qty2 each (for redundancy)

    • CCM-4500: Controller Module

    • CCM-4100: Standard I/O Module

    • CCM-4600: Modem and IF/Telemetry Module, Qty2 each (for redundancy)

    • CCM-4155 or -4156: STM-1 Optical or Electrical Mini IO Module

2+0 or East/West Configuration (STM-1 Electrical, 1+0)

  • Consecutive point architecture achieved with only a single 1 RU chassis at each location

  • In this configuration the IDU contains 2 Power Supply Modules and 2 Modem/IF Modules

  • One Modem/IF is referred to as the west modem and the other as the east modem

  • The IDU is connected to two ODUs, one broadcasting/receiving in one directing of the ring architecture and the other broadcasting/receiving in the other direction

  • This configuration provides individual 1 + 1 link protection as well as the full-scale protection inherent in the consecutive point architecture

  • At each location within the network, data may be dropped or inserted

  • Front panel connections for drop/insert capability are provided

  • In this configuration each IDU contains 2 Power Supply Modules and 2 Modem/IF Modules


1 1 protection diversity

Diversity mode: the link between each pair of modems is the same, providing complete redundancy

This arrangement requires bandwidth for both links and non-interference between the links, but it provides hitless receive and transmit switching

The IDU supports both frequency and spatial diversity

Frequency diversity: two frequencies are used

Spatial diversity: two non-interfering paths are used

In either case, the proprietary framer chooses the best, or error-free, data stream and forwards it to the Line Interface Units (LIUs)

1+1 Protection: Diversity


1 1 protection non diversity

Non-diversity mode: One ODU at each location transmits to both two ODUs at the other location

Does not require the extra bandwidth or interference protection of diversity mode

Provides hitless receive switching and hot standby

IDU automatically switches transmit ODU upon appropriate ODU alarm or ODU interface error, minimizing transmit outage time

The power supply, ODU, IF/telemetry and modem are protected

The digital framing and LUIs are not

    • The IDU cross point switch provides any-to-any E1/T1 routing between the front-panel ports, east and west RF links.

    • Flexible channel mapping allows pointand- click selection of predefined routings or custom routing.

    • Custom routing selections may be uploaded to the IDU via FTP.
