  1. Enhancing the quality of clinical placement for students throughout Southern NSWLHD Gay Woodhouse Cathy New June 2013

  2. What we did • Conducted 1 day workshops x 4 on Clinical Supervision module ‘Mentor in the Workplace’ working with TAFE NSW at 4 sites for optimal uptake throughout health district for 80 participants.

  3. Pre and post Survey of workshop participants • Pre and post Survey of one cohort of clinical placement students.

  4. Workshop x 1 to develop clinical supervision framework for a whole of district focus in SNSWLHD

  5. What we did • Reviewed current staff support resource- workbook to ensure a clinical supervision focus that aligns with developed framework

  6. Outcomes • Contextualised training that is generalisable to other areas in the future • Improved quality of clinical supervision for students • Framework to assist staff in provision of clinical supervision of students • Improved resources and network for staff supervising students in Southern.

  7. Where to from here? • Intranet site for staff to access resources to assist with clinical supervision • Continue support of clinical supervisors • Access further funding to introduce a Communities of Practice collaborative forum for staff.
