  4. Why is this relevant? • United States: • As of 2008, nearly 47 million people identified themselves as Hispanic • 15% of the U.S. population • By 2050, projection is 30% of the U.S. population

  5. Nevada: • 2.6 million people • Nearly 26% identified themselves as Hispanic

  6. Clark County: • 2 million people • A little more than 28.4% identified themselves as Hispanic

  7. ABECEDARIO (Spanish alphabet) • The beauty of the Spanish language is that phonetically, the sounds are nearly pure and hardly change, no matter the combination

  8. “A,B,C,D,E,F” • A: "a" as in agua • B: "be" as in boca • C: "ce" as in cinta • D: "de" as in dolor • E: "e" as in elefante • F: "efe" as in feliz

  9. “G, H, I, J, K, L” • G: "ge" as in general • H: "hache' as in hacer • I: "i" as in iglesia • J: "jota" as in joven • K: "ka" as in kilometro • L: "ele" as in Luz
