  6. You’ll need to make an appointment for your driving tests. You may do make an appointment through the driver exam station or by going online. Please click here for detailed information.

  7. On the Test-Day, you’ll be ready to: • Show two acceptable proof of identification documents, one of which contains your Social Security number (see the list above). If you don’t have a SSN, have your passport and I-20 with you. • Complete an application • Take a vision test. • Have either your parent or guardian with you to sign the paperwork (if you’re younger than 18) • Pay any applicable fees. (prepare cash ahead)

  8. You will have to take two tests during the appointment- Maneuverability Test and Road Test. Maneuverability test is to test your skills on parking a car. The road test is to test your skill on driving in local areas.

  9. Once You Pass: If you pass the test, you’ll be given a completion certificate from your examiner. Within 60 days take that to a license agency, where you’ll be issued your license on the spot. (You should do this ASAP). Your license fee will vary depending on your situation.

  10. If You Fail: If you don’t pass both the maneuverability and road tests, you’ll have to wait seven days before trying it again. You’ll only have to take the test you failed. If you fail a test four times, you’ll have to wait six months and then begin the application process over by getting your driver’s permit.
