  1. buildingSMART Japan Status ReportSingapore(Sep. 2011) • Current Membership: 89 (+8) organizations • 62(+6) companies and 25(+0) research organizations + 2 individual membership • Domain Group Activities: • Structural Domain Group • Implementation of Structural Analysis to Structural Modeler by IFC subset XML schema (ST-Bridge). Pset localization. • Architectural Domain Group: • Staring MVD contribution for GIS and BIM data utilization. • Study on finishing QTO from IFC, GIS-BIM/IFC data transfer. Pset localization. • Building Service & FM Domain Group: • IFC Pset development for HVAC Library (BE-Bridge, includes fan, air terminal, AHU, etc) to IFC. • Promote IFC implementation to domestic MEP CAD vendors and study on IFC data interoperability with BIM modeling tools. • Civil Engineering Domain Group • Working on shield tunnel model for IFC. • Implementation Group • More new IFC compatible BIM software released. (MEP, CFD, QTO, IFC Viewer, Energy Simulation) • IFC data interoperability analysis • MVD and related IFC implementation documentation to support IFC implementation activity. • Build Live Group • Organized Build Live Kobe 2011. (7-11 Sep. 2011) • Technical Task Force • Supporting IFC implementation activities, MVD documentation. • Working with GIS-BIM WG, BIM Parts for CFD software WG, PM-FM WG starting up, BIM Guideline TF, BLT Group. • BIM Guideline Working Group • Research on existing BIM guidelines and related documents. • Joining national BIM/IFC committee with BMMC (Building Maintenance & Management Center), PBA (Public Buildings Association) and major architectural firms and construction companies. • Events: • 23 Aug 2011: BIM Day of JIA Conference (Japan Institute of Architects): Symposium and Panel Discussion covering BIM issues. • 7-11 Sep. 2011: Build Live Kobe 2011 BIM competition: 48 hours for Professional class, 96 hours for Student class. • Awareness of BIM & IFC • Big attention on BIM competition (BLK2011) organized by buildingSMART Japan. • BIM/IFC committee started for developing draft of national BIM Guideline (buildingSMART Japan joined) • Increasing IFC support from domestic software vendors (CFD tool, MEP CADs, QTO and Estimation, Energy simulation, Viewers), • Recommendations and Priorities: • Develop BIM Guideline and set up building owner’s IFC based Open BIM awareness. • Improve IDM & MVD contents, and IFC end user guide. • Improve the quality of IFC data interoperability with the stable MVD contents.
