  5. But what do we call a “mistake” that can’t be erased... or maybe wasn’t actually a “mistake”

  6. There’s a name for this kind of thing... we call it SINOr at least we used to

  7. Sometimes we carry the things we can’t erase around with us for a very long time.

  8. What if you could be free from them? How could you even make that happen?

  9. What if you could be free from them? How could you make that happen?

  19. The Confrontation:

  20. Nathan the prophet tellsDavid a Story (12:1-7)

  21. 2 Samuel 12:1-7The Lord sent Nathan to David. When he came to him, he said, “There were two men in a certain town, one rich and the other poor. 2 The rich man had a very large number of sheep and cattle, 3 but the poor man had nothing except one little ewe lamb he had bought. He raised it, and it grew up with him and his children.

  22. it shared his food, drank from his cup and even slept in his arms. It was like a daughter to him.4 “Now a traveler came to the rich man, but the rich man refrained from taking one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare a meal for the traveler who had come to him. Instead, he took the ewe lamb that belonged to the poor man and prepared it for the one who had come to him.”

  23. 5 David burned with anger against the man and said to Nathan, “As surely as the Lord lives, the man who did this must die! 6 He must pay for that lamb four times over, because he did such a thing and had no pity.” 7 Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man! This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul.

  24. David is confronted with the magnitude of his sin.

  25. atah ha’ish!! (you are the man)

  26. Psalm 51:1-4; 10-12 (David’s Response)

  27. 2 Samuel 12:1-7Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion  blot out my transgressions.2 Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. 4 Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.

  28. 10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.11 Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

  29. Three Steps To Freedom

  30. Step #1 Admit that you have a (sin) problem

  31. Like David we need to own our part in it. to see ourselves clearly.

  32. Mistakes are not sin... sin, is sin.

  33. Step #2 Realize that you can’t fix it on your own.

  34. David realized that what he had done was too damaging to be ignored any longer, but had no idea what to do next.

  35. There are some things that we just can’t undo without help.

  36. Step #3 Turn the problem over to (the) One who can fix it.

  37. David’s plea to God is a huge example for us.

  38. Later on His story, God does something dramatic to prove how serious he is about this... John 3:16-17

  39. “I Killed A Man” - An Unbelievable Confession

  40. Why did this video attract so much attention?

  41. What did Matthew’s confession free him from?
