Each chromosome is on it’s own in mitosis-chromosome replication and separation occurs independently for each horse and donkey chromosome. • In meiosis homologous chromosomes must pair in Prophase I. This cannot occur (nor can synapsis) because there is not an equal number of horse and donkey chromosomes in the diploid cell.
