Education for Farm Women Risk Management Maryland & Delaware www.anniesproject.umd.edu Results and Discussion Objectives Abstract Annie’s project is designed to empower farm women to manage information systems used in critical decision making processes and to build local networks throughout the state.  The target audience is farm women with a passion for business and involvement. Annie’s Project was conducted for the first time in Maryland and Delaware in 2008. This was the first Annie’s Project in the Northeast states. There were 19 women in attendance with a wide range of ages, farm experience and commodity interests. The program followed the basic organization that has been used in other areas of the country. Main topics for the sessions are: Risk Management Overview, Human Resources, Personality Assessment, Business Planning, Grain Marketing, Communications, Estate Planning, Computer Use, Computer Programs for Finance and Management. The presenters of this poster are the major program teachers. Participating presenters include extension educators, private industry and government staff. Impacts What is Annie’s Project? A series of eight risk management education workshops. Project topics include the five areas of Risk Management - Production, Marketing, Financial, Legal Risk, and Human Resources.
